I like making new friends, so feel free to friend me if you think that we'll get along. But please comment here first so that we can get to know each other  a little bit before you add me. :) A lot of my posts are about real life, and I also tend to fangirl and flail about stuff that I like, especially Asian entertainment and music...actually a lot of my fangirl posts are all ARASHI related. XD
introductions anyone? )

Hi! If you're reading this, this means that you have stumbled across my little journal. I love new friends, but please, please comment here before adding me so that I know who you are. It would be great if we had something in common. I post a lot about real life, and I flail and fangirl a lot about my fandoms...especially ARASHI. XD

With LJ going all weird, I thought that I should start posting using my dreamwidth account more often. Oh, my dreamwidth account name is miyako_chan, so feel free to add me over here as well.

Everyone in my country thought that the 2006 Typhoon Milenyo (a lot of destruction, really strong winds, my village was they eye of the storm, no classes for two whole months, and no electricity and water for more than a month) and 2009s Typhoon Ondoy (wherein a whole month's worth of rain was dumped on Metro Manila, washing away cars, displacing so many people and killing lots.)

Just last weekend, Typhoon Sendong (International code name Washi) swept through Mindanao, one of the three major islands of the Philippines, hitting the provinces of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. As of today, there are 1,000 dead and 46 people are still missing, much more than the death toll of Typhoon Ondoy. Families are displaced, many have lost their families, livelihood and their homes. There are many who are now in evacuation centers, but the centers also lack some facilities such as clean restrooms for the evacuees.

In the spirit of Christmas, let's help as much as we can, be it through prayers, cash or donations. Here are some ways that you can help:

Today, it is making a call for donations on behalf of the victims of typhoon Sendong, which has left at least 500 people dead and more missing. Your usual generous support is much appreciated. This time, donations in cash or check will be sent to the group coordinators on the ground to purchase the needed items in the vicinity of the affected sites. My Christmas Wish List 2011

on to my list!!!! )
miyako_chan: (mao umbrella)

Last night, I met up with two of my closest college friends, and watched Repertory Philippines' PETER PAN starring actor and artist Sam Concepcion, and a couple of other people that I either know or have worked with before when I was still active in the theater scene.

The experience was just MAGICAL. I love this story very much...I've watched the disney version, Hook and the most recent version as well. However, I haven't read the book yet, but I'm meaning to soon. Seeing Peter Pan onstage, and seeing characters I have loved since childhood come to life onstage is truly a breathtaking and magical experience.

FINALLY WE HAVE ELECTRICITY AFTER TWO DAYS OF NO electricity....okay, so we still don't have water, but at least that is remedied by the fact that we can collect water in AAVA waterworks and in the house we are building in Malvar St. :)
But of course there are drawbacks to this, such as I didn't know that we had an NSTP processing session today from 8-9 and i only learned it now because i only had internet access now. :( Oh no...*sigh*and it does not help that I don't have a cellphone and I live all the way in Alabang, which really does make you feel isolated when you don't have tv, radio, or cellphones on. the only method of communication that we had was the landline telephone. We had to save the battery of the cellphones.
Last Thursday my mother took me on an "adventure". Which consisted of driving around the village in the storm and checking out the new house being constructed in Malvar. Basically, we had to find our way around because so many roads were blocked by huge trees which had either fallen or uprooted. In one house, not only did a tree fall, but their electrical post fell as well.
In most streets, most of the wires were left dangling or laying on the road, which was quite freaky as we had to drive over them.
When we went to St. James (our Church), we ran into a stray dangling wire. I freaked out and my mom was just saying how "exciting" it was. Hahhaha. When we got to St. James, I stayed inside the car while my mom was praying in the Church. At that moment the storm got worse and the wind picked up. Imagine how scared i was when the van was rocking slightly back and forth because of the strong winds.
Yesterday, going to ATC was something else. SUPER TRAFFIC. And all the D size batteries were out ot stock. And everyone was buying pails and the like to collect water in. And I was able to convince my mom to buy some canned goods (cornbeef and spam) just in case. We usually don't have canned goods in the house, you see.
And for some weird reason I ended up sleeping almost the entire day, but then i still managed to sleep early, and by early I mean before twelve midnight.
The first night however, I called up Chinky, and we had a long good talk. I really miss my barkada!

.....and I though that things better tonight. No more groupworks to think about except for the History play. I had a plan in mind already. As soon as I get home research on Hong Kong, Macao and Alfred Kong. However, it seems that I am having a hard time finding him on the internet. All I needed was additional information, and I can't find any! :(
It is really sooo frustrating when you want to do a million things, but you realize in the end that you can handle only as much as you can. It's frustrating when people push you or pressure you too much until it reaches the point that you want to scream out loud for everything to stop.
Which, I think, I am already doing. Okay, I know that I asked for this, I wanted to do the script. However, my mind is such in a muddle. I can't think clearly, but I have to push myself harder in order to be able to finish this challenge that I have to respond to.
Writing is fun. It's been a long times since I wrote or better yet co-wrote a script. Yes, this history play will serve as a nice challenge for me.
It's amazing how small things make you happy as your day goes by. It may be some good advice, a heartfelt conversation with a friend, a simple smile and a hello, or a friend reassuring you in times of need. It's amazing, isn't it? How the little things of life put a smile upon a face and make one's day. So thank you, to the people who made my day. Thank you.
I'm literally falling apart and my ever observant parents can see that, but even though, I must try my best to be as "unstressed" as possible. I wonder how I will do that?")

Spending quality time with your closest friends is bliss, especially if your bonding sessions happen two weeks in a row.
I really was not expecting to go to PALMS at all last Saturday. My plan was simple. After baptism, go to Gela's and watch GREY'S ANATOMY....Grey's Anatomy MARATHON!!!!!
Instead, it was double the fun. Downside- I left my wallet.
Yup, so there I was, having fun with Lor and Gela in the pool, and with Vicka and Trix who were in the Sauna.
BTW, Ktel's bday was my first time to use a Jacuzzi, and last Saturday was the first time to use the sauna, even though it was ony for a few minutes.
I missed the crepe because i was too full from the buffet lunch in Greenbelt (baptism reception) and I didn't have my wallet. (That wouldn't change anything because I don't have enough money.)
Then a little "roadtrip" in Vicka's cool car, with music blaring inside, and us taking pictures all around...or rather Trix and Lor were taking pictures all around. But then again, who can resist the camera? :)
Then came the Marathon.
Wow. Cool. I love this show. And Gela knew I would. She knows me reaaaaaaallly well. ;)
Thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!!!
GREY'S ANATOMY. Really wonderful show. WOnderful characters and WONDERFUL MUSIC!!!!
My mom picked me up, and I noticed that the music playing was disco music again. Suddenly, I remembered the countless times mom would set up the videoke in her room, or sometimes the living room, take out all our mikes and all of us kids would fight for the mike and the songs that we could sing. Sure, it isn't magic sing, but just as fulfilling.
Just as fulfulling as singing great karaoke hits in PALMS on Ktel's bday, with really good food to boot.
A while ago, as my groupmates and I were working on our report for tommorow (heeellllp meeee!) I found it funny that when we discuss "Nasa Puso ang Amerika" with ourselves, we are spewing out with ideas, but when faced with the powerpoint, we had a hard time putting down stuf. (at first. It was hard to organize everything.)
Then Av was wondering who the Pinoy Lolo of Rock was. Ok, we never found out who he was, but our guesses were hilarious.
"Rico j. Puno?"
"Joey Ayala?"
"Jose Marie Chan?"
hahaha. Funny. ALl we know is that he is old and skinny. heheh.
My tita is here from the states. We get new magazines, snacks, clothes, shampoos, lotions and CD's. Mom has her Rene Olstead and Celine has her Aly and AJ. And everything smells all Stateside..which is a good smell indeed.

Long time no write.
It's kind of hard having to journals to keep track off. One online one and one personal one.
Haven't really updated in a loooooooooong time.
Summer school is just alright. I love Filipino for the first time of my life. haha. isn't it just funny?
Isn't it funny? how life is? How by a certain twist of fate, you find another "kindred spirit" and as you get to know each other you realize "How come I have never met you before?!" Really, it's funny.....well, my dear, I hope that even if we are not classmates anymore next sem, I do hope that we can still retain our friendship.
Another sem is closing, and yet, I still do not feel any accomplished yet...maybe it's due to the fact that the summer sem is so short or something..i have no idea. My thoughts are just spilling out of my head at random with no direction at all. Just pure random thoughts. haha.
Speaking of accomplishments....I can't believe I actually wrote a one-shot HP fanfic. It was fun, though....
Okay, this is really pointless.
BOO. once more.
so random. I can't think anymore.
oh yeah. Elliot Yamin should not have been voted out. Kat has a nice voice...but she is standard. Let a guy win this time.
BOO> Good night

I Hate List:
I hate men who are chauvinistic.
I hate men who think that they cannot stay committed to one girl.
I hate men who think that they are since they are well known in a certain province, they think like they are well connected and known on campus.
I hate men who are such elitists up to the point that they call people they don't like nobodies.
I hate men who are egotistical.
I hate the fact that I am slowly drifting apart...wait, no..I have drifted apart from those friends I made in OrSem. My orgmates are my barkada. My family now.
I hate the fact that people sometimes do not know how to use tact and discretion when trying to correct other people.
These are all my feelings from last night to today.
I had another fight with "hiM" (shudder...I seriously do not know what possessed me to become friends with the guy). He really gets on your nerves at times. Alexa is right. He will be okay in the start, then later on do something that will perpetually annoy you. Well, he did just the thing. Now, I guess we will be giving each other the cold shoulder treatment from now on. I will be civil with him, but not like before wherein we used to compare grades and lessons with me muttering off comments from the corner of my mouth. But this is all for the better.
How can one best act out Neruda's "Walking ArounD'"? it is kind of hard to interpret into actions such a profound monologue such as this. So, I go and ask them whether I could just half with "him" the poem. He said no, and of course his wonderful reason was because of the fact that I did not join the meeting yesterday.
You see, how would I have been able to go home properly if I met up with them? Please get this straight. This was all a matter of miscommunication, then you had to blow it out of proportion with your "no more excuses por favor" line.
Of course I felt guilty! I felt bad that I wasn't able to contribute more to the groups worksheet, however you have no right to say that to me like that. How dare you?!
I am not perfect, I am not responsible, but I do try to be a good and responsible student. It just is quite hard to achieve sometimes. Especially when you are so sleepy and the like.
Oh well....
Went out with chinky today in ATC. Have not seen her in ages! Her new hairdo is just perfect for her. It adds character to her face, as some bangs fall on the side of her forehead. Her hair is even more wavy than usual, and brings out her feminine side.
I will help contribute to her New Year's resolution on investing her money on clothes, by going out shopping with her, while also shopping for myself on the side. Hahaha.
i am dead tired. i will do my pinoy essay tommorow, early morning, then watch moulin rouge, go to parlor, and help fix the house
cheers! Later!

hey, i know that i have not written since october. I have been quite busy with stuff at home and currently at school. Right now, I am trying to take a little breather and just writing this in order to cool me down, with no format whatsoever.
First of all, this week has been a very, very bad week for and can you believe that it is only Tuesday?
My brain is in a confused muddle, trying to make the most of what I have available at my fingertips staring vaugely into space and just typing, typing;watching the words flow out of my brain which is not exactly thinking right now. I am trapped between the lines the spaces of words, lines and sentences that I should be formulating in order to come up with a feasible topic proposal, dreading the next day and the subjects that it then brings.Wondering, and trying not to worry about the fact that the topic will be once again thrown back into the abyss of thought from which it came from and another dull topic shall be thrust upon my shoulders once again. I sure hope not. Statistics are fine I guess, for this kind of topic, but what else forms of sources can I use? The only things that will help are History textbooks, the book on the development of the economy of puerto rico, and internet sources. Thank goodness I only need five sources for tomorrow.
I like to be free from everything, I do not like anyone to boss me around. Yet, in writing essays, I prefer pre-set topics for me,just the general broad topic, then from there, I can use my creativity to look for an interesting topic. It is weird, in a way. And funny thing is, it would be way much easier for me to go back to fourth year highschool Philosophy with Ms. Frim, and write papers regarding philosophical ideas. However, research papers are more fun. I can really do a paper about theatre, or about a certain European country in a particular insident in history. Researching, and reporting what I research on is really fun. Writing argumentative papers has lost its thrill already to me. However, I know that I should not think this way regarding the paper. I should be positive or else I will not be able to write a good paper. And if I get a low grade, the harder it will be for me to get a 3.00 by the end of this semester.
-I don't mean for things to happen the way they somehow turn out to be. THey just happen. Yes, it is mostly always my fault, which I always try to cover up with different other excuses to calm my mind, even though I know that it is wrong. There, I think that I should really go to bed now. I have done nothing at all for the many things tommorow except for this entry. It shows what a responsible student I am. I will sleep on this topic, and I am pretty sure that not many people are online at 2.30 in the morning, or 3.00, so the internet will be faster.
The cool night wind whips the dark locks of raven hair as she walks by at a brisk pace. Pausing suddenly, she leans over to pick the delicate petals of a rose growing by the path. Her delicate fingers brush against the soft petals of the flower as she tucks it neatly inside her lapel pocket. With a swift glance behind her, she sets off once more, stepping lightly onto the dirt paved path. As she stands there, surveying the scene rolling out to her view, beams of light emmanate from the moon above, illuminating the well worn path and the willowy, slender figure of a raven haired girl.

Finally, I found time to actually write in this journal again. I have been quite busy the past few days, since it is exam week for my siblings again, which means that I am the tutor ng bayan once again. It is quite a headache sometimes, especially when some of the questions can be answered through common sense, or when you know that they are perfectly capable of answering the question correctly if only they weren't so distracted. But then again, I am also getting a taste of my own medicine. I can get distracted quite easily as well, but I don't distract myself by jumping on beds and moving around too much! oh well-the hardships of being an ate. I am at my wits end about reviewing my siblings. Right now, my brother is taking a long time to start studying. And to think he is usually the one who is prompt in studying right away so that I could finish reviewing him faster. I have telling him to start studying thirty minutes ago. It is really trying my patience.
I was able to call the American Embassy after a loooong time. For some reason, I get nervous whenever I call people I don't know for my mom, or calling places like the Embassy. Turns out that I don't need to go to the States or anything. I also don't need to choose my citizenship anymore. I hold an American passport, and I am an American citizen. Just as long as I have that, I don't need to do anything extra anymore. It's quite a relief. I didn't want to go to the States alone!
Can you believe it? I am going to have driving lessons starting this Wed.! Cool! It seems that my mom has forgotten all about the grounding she gave me a month ago. but then again, she also benefits from me learning how to drive. I will be able to go to South in ATC to buy the groceries, maybe pick up my siblings from school. In any case, that's fine with me.
